Kateřina Rybářová Title: Use of Occupational Therapy in Children with Williams Syndrome up to 15 years Abstract: Williams syndrome also known as Williams-Beuren syndrome is a rare genetic disease caused by microdeletion of chromosome 7. The extensive clinical picture significantly affects the daily life of children with this diagnosis. The care for children with Williams syndrome requires an intervention of a multidisciplinary team, which also includes an occupational therapist. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to define the role of occupational therapist and areas of intervention for children under 15 years of age with Williams syndrome. The theoretical part of the bachelors thesis briefly describes the general issues related to diagnosis, disease prevalence, clinical characteristics, the operations of the association for Williams syndrome in the Czech Republic, treatment and therapeutic options. Stay at the Asylum House in Strakonice through the children´s eyes

Thesis describes shelters, providing services to users, homelessness and its impact on the lives of individuals and their families with kids. The aim is to find out how children perceive their stay in a shelter, whether it is stigmatizing for them, whether this institution is perceived as their home and how they view the social workers at this facility. The first part describes the shelters and the provision of social services for users, briefly describes the developmental stages of an individual from early childhood to adolescence and finally it deals with the basic characteristics of the family and its role in a society, its functions and problems, possible causes of social exclusion and the subsequent stay of families in the shelter. The other part is based on qualitative research realized through semi-structured interviews carried out with children living in the shelter in Strakonice. Responses of these children are analyzed and evaluated due to this research. The final chapter summarizes the results of interviews and the research result shows the opinions of these children.
The specifics of working with children with ADHD

My thesis deals with methods of work with children with ADHD. It describes hyperactivity in different evolutional periods of children and also how it affects families. This thesis describes the approach to education of children with ADHD and also characterizes different facilities that provide care for both children with ADHD and their parents. Appendices include case studies. Two of them show positive impact of ceramic art therapy, the third one describes how mother and daughter used available services and facilities to deal with ADHD problem.
School readiness

In the teoretical part of my bachelor paper I addressed the issues of school readiness and the overall development of a pre-school child needed for entering into primary school. I dealt specifically with the definition of the concepts of school maturity, preschool age and causes of school immaturity. In the practical part I used diagnostic tests, observations, interviews and projective method to develop a case study of selected preschoolers. The goal od my practical work was to assess selected aspects of school readiness.
Teaching foreign languages through drama education

School maturity and diagnostic

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of school readiness and its characteristics. In the theoretical part of the paper the problems of the appropriateness of school attendance postponement and the child?s school attendance preparation are worked up. Likewise the issue of children´s development of pre-school stage is treated and, not least, the diagnostic methods of considering the child school readiness methods and various tests used in practice including their evaluation are mentioned. In the practical part, the research is carried out based upon the observation, indigenous screening elaboration and the final evaluation.
